Community steps up in a big way!

It was an email we were thrilled to receive … Champion Pet Foods shared it was donating over 6,000 lbs worth of premium cat food to Regina Cat Rescue! This on top of the 4,000 lbs they donated earlier this year. RCR is truly blown away with their generosity!

But before we could start filling up the food bowls, we had to figure out how to get all of that cat food from Edmonton to Regina. We didn’t have to think too hard because soon the community stepped up in a big way!

After just one quick email, Russ from Richards Transport offered up their services free of charge! They agreed to pick up and deliver the 5 pallets of food – a giant relief for RCR for which we are so grateful!

Next we had to sort out where to store all of the cat food, as we have no office or shelter. Just four hours after they received our request for help, Storage Vault Canada stepped up to the plate and offered the use of a PUPS storage trailer! And when Amanda from Storage Vault Canada learned just how much food was on its way, she even upgraded their donation from a 13’ trailer to a 20’ trailer!

The final question was where could this trailer be located - and that’s when the final piece fell into place. Wayne and Carole from Morsky Group of Companies, offered a piece of land at their shop to store the PUPS trailer! On top of that, they saved RCR volunteers a lot of back-breaking work by donating the labour and equipment to get all that food stored away nicely inside the trailer!

Animal rescue is full of ups and downs, but watching the local community come together and lend their support was definitely a highlight for Regina Cat Rescue. We now have thousands of pounds of healthy, nutritious food for our feral, stray and foster cats. It arrived safely, is stored securely and is accessible to our volunteers all because of these great companies and wonderful people who so willingly helped us out!

For their in-kind donations, both Storage Vault Canada and Morsky Group of Companies become Regina Cat Rescue Silver sponsors, and Champion Pet Foods remains a committed Platinum sponsor.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

Regina Cat Rescue volunteers were all smiles while inspecting the donation!
