Another Day, Another Rescue

RCR was recently notified by a concerned citizen that a beautiful tame cat had given birth to kittens under that deck of the apartment building where she lives. Mama and babies were doing well, but we were concerned that the mama cat was at risk in a high traffic location.

Unfortunately, this clever little mama had her kittens well protected at the very back corner underneath the deck. They were safe, but not accessible.

Our only choices were to dismantle the deck, or wait until the babies were old enough to walk out on their own - but in the meantime, what if something happened to the mama?

Thankfully, the renter, landlord and RCR came together and came up with a plan to rescue the baby kittens.  Simply cutting away one board enable the volunteers to get the kittens to safety.

In short order, all 4 babies were safe and sound and we were able to move them and their mama to a caring foster home, where the mama can look after her babies safely, and where they will be socialized in order to make wonderful pet kitties once old enough.  They will be available for adoption at the beginning of October.

Three cheers to the RCR Feral Team leads for another successful rescue!
