BACKGROUND

Meet Hattie 💛

Hattie’s journey hasn’t been an easy one, but her quiet strength and gentle spirit shine through. She was found by a caring RCR community volunteer, heartbreakingly emaciated and heavily pregnant. Without hesitation, she was brought into foster care—and less than a week later, Hattie welcomed eight kittens into the world.

Despite being so depleted herself, Hattie was an incredibly devoted mama. She kept every one of her babies warm, safe, and well-fed, even at the expense of her own weight and recovery. It wasn’t until her kittens were fully weaned weeks later that Hattie could finally focus on herself. Because of her past, she takes food very seriously—nothing extreme, just a reminder of how hard she once had to fight to survive. She may need gentle portion control and prefers to be fed separately, occasionally swatting other cats if meals are delayed.

Outside of food time, Hattie is a calm, content, and low-key girl. She enjoys peaceful solo living—napping in sunny spots, chewing on cardboard, and quietly batting around her favorite ball. She mostly keeps to herself, but happily accepts chin and ear scratches and the occasional treat. With time, patience, and a quieter home with fewer cats, it’s easy to imagine Hattie blossoming into a full-fledged snuggle muffin.

After such a hard start in life, what Hattie truly wants is simple: her own bed, her own sunny window, and a safe place where she can finally relax—just as she once made her kittens feel safe and loved.

Hattie’s Home Preferences:

  • Prefers to be the only cat, but can tolerate others with a slow, proper introduction; should be fed separately

  • Unknown with children; when she’s met them, she was perfectly content letting the spotlight stay on her kittens

  • Likely not a dog fan, unless it’s a very quiet, low-energy dog who will completely ignore her

If you’re looking for a gentle, independent soul who deserves a peaceful forever home, Hattie may be the perfect fit 🐾💛
