BACKGROUND

Meet Rusty — a true survivor with the softest heart and the gentlest soul.

Rusty was found living on the streets of a small rural Saskatchewan town, terribly starving, severely malnourished, and dangerously underweight. When he was finally safe and vetted, we learned he had diabetes—very likely brought on by the extreme starvation he endured.

Since coming into RCR care, Rusty has blossomed with love, steady meals, and proper medical support. He was started on insulin, and in just a short time, his dosage has already been cut in half. We have high hopes that with continued care, good nutrition, and stability, Rusty may one day no longer need insulin. For now, he simply requires his regular controlled meals and insulin, along with a bit of extra TLC to help him reach full health.

This sweet boy was rescued in the nick of time, and he knows it. Rusty is grateful, gentle, and incredibly loving. His personality is mellow and easygoing. He adores cuddles, gives the softest little headbutts, and gets along wonderfully with all the other cats in his foster home. He loves his toys almost as much as he loves mealtime!

Rusty needs a very special adopter—someone who can provide the consistent vet care, structure, and love he deserves. In return, he will give you unwavering affection, gratitude, and companionship.

If you have a big heart and space for a true sweetheart who just wants a second chance at life, Rusty is ready to meet you.
