Data Specialist

Purpose

The Data Specialist volunteer will be responsible for supporting RCR’s move toward 100% digital operations and ensuring accurate and efficient data collection across the organization, with particular emphasis on the animal rescue stream. As this role will be focused on administrative functions, it would not be working directly with cats or the public directly.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the existing online database (known as BARRK)

  • Timely and accurate data entry

  • Transition from use of paper records to fully digital processes

  • Work with other co-chairs to revise forms to ensure all desired information is collected

  • Identify any incomplete information and/or discrepancies and assist in resolving such challenges

  • Work with applicable co-chairs to ensure timely and accurate data collection that supports the animal rescue stream

  • Provide input and expertise to assist in expanding the use of BARRK, to include other activity streams in RCR (e.g. donations)

  • Retrieve information from the BARRK database to present to the Board prior to monthly meetings and other requests as required

  • Create a “user” manual for BARRK and train other volunteers on how and when to use it

  • Other digital tasks as required

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong computer skills. Experience with databases is an asset.

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate professionalism, good judgement and initiative.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining relationships

  • Compassion and empathy for animals and people

  • Experience with process improvement and documentation is desirable
