A Sad Farewell to Our Beloved Chachi

chachi loved his cat tree

Chachi has been a fan favourite since his rescue from a rural Regina area along with his mom and siblings who became known as our “Happy Days” litter. The family thrived in foster care. We were shocked when we learned poor Chachi had a Grade 6 heart murmur when we sent him to neutered. This was a first for RCR.

chachi chilling!

Following the recommendation of a trusted veterinary partner, Chachi was taken to see a cardiologist at a specialty clinic in Edmonton. He did great and received a positive report. The murmur was significant but not life threatening. We happily looked forward to a positive future for the little guy.

Unfortunately, our enthusiasm was short lived. Chachi began to go downhill and became very ill, very quickly. After a brief roller coast ride of ups and downs, we were forced to make the hard decision to let Chachi go due to Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

We are heartbroken but grateful to Chachi’s foster mom and our partner vet clinics that provided diligent care to the little guy. RIP, sweet Chachi.
