Early Winter Weather Has RCR Scrambling

BRRRRR! Snow and cold arrived early this year, and Regina Cat Rescue is busier than ever trying to get cats off the street and out of the cold.

Here are just a few of our recent rescues that were nabbed from urgent situations and tugged on the heartstrings of rescuers and supporters!

If you follow RCR, you’ve probably seen posts about tapping on the hood of your car in winter just in case a cat has crawled up under the hood seeking warmth. Sweet Mulligan is one cat who learned the hard way that this is not a good way to keep warm! He was injured by a fan belt but thankfully his injuries aren’t as bad as they look and he’s recovering nicely in a foster home.

Luckily, Mulligan’s injuries look worse than they are and he’s doing well.

This pretty little tortie mama raised her litter of kittens on a local golf course, traveling miles daily and avoiding predators to keep her kittens safe. One of her kittens was run over by a car, and another found a home with a staff member. With winter approaching and the golf course scheduled to close for the season, the staff reached out for help. The mama and remaining kitten were rescued soon afterward and doing well in foster care.

This tiny mama raised her litter on a local golf course. With just one kitten left, the staff were anxious to see them rescued before they closed for the winter.

Little Totoro is just a young fellow at a year of age, but he’s already had a hard life. When he was rescued, he was full of scars and scab wounds and a heavily bleeding neck wound. Sadly, this sweet boy tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), likely contracting the disease through multiple cat fights. He has the potential to live a long and healthy life with special care.

These are just a few of the cats that RCR has recently rescued, as summer came to an abrupt end and cold temperatures set in.

Free pet insurance for adopters

Regina Cat Rescue is pleased to partner with Petsecure to offer a free six-week trial of pet insurance for all cats and kittens adopted after October 1, 2018. 

This free trial covers your new pet for up to $500 in veterinary care for accidents and illnesses. The voucher can be activated on-line within 10 days of the adoption, and coverage will begin 48 hours afterward. There is no obligation to purchase the insurance after the six-week trial and, if not extended, coverage will automatically expire.

The purpose of this program is to help introduce new pet owners to the financial assistance available to them with pet health insurance.
